What is Kidsgrove Known For?
Kidsgrove is a town found in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. With a population of more than 26,000, Kidsgrove is considered middle-sized. The town’s growth was fuelled by coal mining in the 18th century, and its strong sense of community is attributed to its history as a town for workers. It used to house the second site of English Electric, an industrial manufacturer who was once Britain’s biggest private employer and was pivotal in the development of the UK’s electrical and aerospace industries.
Kidsgrove is one of the recipients of a national initiative to develop towns. The town has received £16.9 million to invest in developing local businesses and increasing housing. Included in the local government’s plans are to turn Chatterley Valley into an Enterprise Zone, the construction of new transport systems, and to increase green spaces and outdoor sports facilities for public use. The council predicts these endeavours will generate over 2,000 new jobs, as well as generate £80m for the local economy.
Amidst all these developments, Taybar Security is proud to partner with both established and new local businesses looking to gain a foothold in Kidsgrove.
